Every month we will put a different question up with an answer, links with suggestions on books and brochures that can be helpful during the grieving process.

How Long should you be grieving?
Does time truly heal all wounds? ..Somewhat…..I do believe that time permits us to adjust to the shock of our loss. I believe that time will ease your pain, but you will not forget your loss – that will forever change you. In time, life will resume and you’ll return to some sense of “normalcy” - But don’t attempt to put a time limit on how long you should be grieving. No one can “set a date” to assure themselves “that on this date" I’ll be done with my sadness and feel better. This will not happen. So, how long should it take? Sadly, there is no answer for this as everybody grieves differently. You may feel your loss for months, while someone else bounces right back into life. No one can tell you that you’ve grieved “long enough”. When you’re ready, you’ll begin to experience joy again. Take your time…..if you need to steal a few minutes away from the hubbub of life just to take a deep breath, to be alone for awhile, or just to cry, do so. Over time tears will subside, and little by little you’ll find you’ll be able to begin to face each new day.
